Back from Vietnam

Alright, I'm home. Getting that feeling again.

My mother wasn't very pleased with my dyed hair. Say she doesn't like that image and I'm not allowed to dye next time . Ah well. Hopefully when my dad comes back he'll put in a word for me.

It's 825 pm as I start blogging, and its that feeling. I don't know what to do for the rest of the night, and so I decided I'll blog, and when I'm done I'll just do QT and then well... eat?.. Haha..

Vietnam has been a great experience for me and for the OCIP team in general la. From the kids to the shopping to the scenery and to the bonding with one another, I daresay that we probably won't get a chance like this much more..

Hmm, so lemme start from the kids first. Anh Sang Shelter. The boys home for kids without their parents with them, some passed away, some divorced, some disowned. These kids are really physical. No kidding. I think the most shocking part of it was watching them play this card game. The scarey part wasn't in the card game, but the way they punished the loser.

Imagine you're a victim being assaulted by 5 gangsters at once... Haha that's it. They're really very violent.

But overall we had loads of fun. I even joined the guys for soccer. We were up against another team of richer kids. We ( including me, forgot to bring shoes) were barefooted on a horrendously made concrete floor, and the opposing team was with jerseys and shoes. I was telling Jian Feng it's like the scene from I Not Stupid. Hahaha.. Well the problem was that the guys from the shelter were pretty disorganized, and they were younger, and lost against the other team who was much more organized in their attack and defence.

And on that day the girls stayed back at the shelter to cook a meal for everyone. We were joking about buying take-away lunches in case, but in actual fact the girls actually cooked really well! Fried rice, fish fillet, and soup! Hahaha, actually im quite impressed by our girls. They even made the Vietnamese volunteers want to cook the next day to 'match' our sisters. Haha..

Jian feng made an interesting comment about it being like the guys being the 'hunters' and coming back from hunting in the woods, while the girls stayed at home to cook lunch for the men who came back tired. Haha. Amusing.

Hmmm, sidetrack a little. We appeared in the HCM City paper twice! And a magazine once! Hahaha we're famous! Even the person at the airport check in counter knew about us. Cool eh...

But the painful part was the seperation. The sisters cried. The boys at the shelter cried. I left earlier cos crying's contagious. I guess the saddest thing for me was to witness the fact that this love we've given to them is one that they never had in their lives and they held on to it especially tight. But yet it couldn't last. Not even if we stayed 10 days. 1 month. The fact is that both sides had to let go sooner or later.

Will post the pictures later...

Hmmm, I abit sian already. Shall not blog. Will blog another day about things I found out about my fellow brothers and sisters!.. Haha..

But there was one verse that I thought of as I looked out of the plane as it weaved among the clouds in the heavens.

Psalms 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God;And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Everytime I look at the beautiful landscape, the breathtaking view fills me with an indescribable feeling.

He made the heavens and the earth with such perfection...

Where can the darkness hide among such beauty?

And as I finish this post, my iTunes goes, " Gaze upon the beauty of the Lord.." how appropriate.
