What does God say about bad-mouthing people?
I'm deeply disturbed by what's been going on...
Luke 6:45
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
James 1:19
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
I'm a young Christian, but I do know that God's instructions when it comes to talking behind people's back and bad mouthing people.
I do admit that at times I do fall short, but I resolve to never gossip about other's behind their backs. I feel that there are 2 things we can do if we feel that someone else is not living to our expectations.
1. Don't talk about it.
2. Tell the person about it and resolve it with him/her.
We're not perfect, and we shouldn't expect others to be. We're made unique in God, and we should expect people to be different from us in the way we see and do things.
I really do feel that gossiping and all that is probably the most unproductive things we can ever do. If anything let's talk about ourselves and our own shortcomings...
Here's another verse...
Proverbs 15:28
The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.
Dear Christians, Let us bear a good testimony for God and follow his Word in all things that we do. =)
Sigh.
