Has been a while

Has been a while since I blogged. Gonna just blog what's on my mind as it comes, so the flow might be a little off.

I'm really glad that I'm finally fully able to do what I'm supposed to do in this phase of my life. That's to study. Hur hur. For the past two terms I've been distracted by things not related to studies, and wasn't able to focus, but in a way, I'm thankful I'm able to focus this term. And I'm not being a mugger.

I think there's a fine line between being a mugger and being dilligent. But then I look at the people who are called 'mugger'. Sometimes people really make it sound like it's a sin to be fully committed to your studies, and be dilligent. You know, if we're not in university to study, then what are we doing there?

It's actually quite a challenge to bring balance to your life - studies, friends, church, family, sleeping times! Haha. But I think it's really important to lead a balanced life.

I've heard that most successful people wake up early in the morning. Hahaha. I think it's not a question of what time a person wakes up, but waking up early is a sign of balance in our lives. And well, successful people have balance in their lives.

I've been making an effort to sleep by 1 am every night, sometimes successful, sometimes not, but I strive to wake up at 630am everyday. I haven't been very successful, but I'm just off the mark by an hour or two, and I'm working on it. And honestly, I like the feeling of being in control of these things. I think it shows some level of discipline in your lives.

I guess often in university, especially in SMU, most of your peers are late night people, and it's actually quite tough not to be influenced. Often it means you have to reject your friends for supper, pubbing, socialising, and that takes some discipline! I've had many friends feeling shocked that I wake up at 8 am everyday! lol. But to me, it's really important to be able to do that ( 630 am, not 8am).

Back to the question of studying hard. I feel that if we've stopped being dilligent in our studies, then we've forgotten our whole reason for being here in the first place. Personally maybe it's because many come into SMU through ability, not character. There are definitely alot of people have a much better attitude towards learning than some of those in SMU, but can't get in because of their ability, and I feel that those of us who are here should learn to be thankful that we're in a premier university taking a course where many desire to be in, but can't.

So conclusion, study hard and learn as much as we can, for that's the whole reason we're there. =)
